2025 National Team Applications

Please fill out the application(s) below for each distance that you're interested in racing on the national team. The USAOCR Selection Committee will determine the 2025 National Team based on the Selection Criteria found below. Please note that there are minimum requirements to be considered for the 2025 USAOCR National Elite Team. To apply to be a member of the Elite Team, at least one result must score 11.9 points from the criteria spreadsheet.

As this is for representation in the 2025 USAOCR National Team, each application will be treated with the highest respect and reverence owed to each of the applicants. All applications will be reviewed in accordance with USAOCR's nondiscrimination policy. USAOCR does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, age, disability, military status, or any status prohibited by applicable law. USAOCR will follow all local, state, and federal laws in accordance with this policy.

The number of elite athletes selected to the 2025 USAOCR National Team will be based upon the maximum number of participants allowed to attend the FISO/UIPM OCR World Championships in Sweden. Alternates will also be selected by the Selection Committee.

Currently, members of the 2025 USAOCR National Team may be eligible to participate in the Pan American Continental Championships in Costa Rica (May 2025) and the FISO/UIPM OCR World Championships in Sweden (September 2025).  As other events become available, the 2025 USA OCR National Team will be notified of opportunities.

2025 USAOCR National Team Criteria - Elite / Age Group

The criteria for applying for the Short Course and Standard Course 2025 USAOCR National Teams have been formalized by the USAOCR Athlete Committee and approved by the USAOCR Board of Directors.

The selection process will be based upon a points system with the winners at the Short Course and Standard Course FISO OCR World Championships and the USAOCR National Championship event gaining an automatic entry as a member of the Short Course and Standard Course USAOCR National Team. 

As of this announcement, Elite Athletes and Age Group Athletes are subject to the application/points system. The Selection Committee Points Criteria Chart follows this announcement and is designed to show the points system.  A detailed chart for the Short Course and Standard Course criteria is below.

The following are the standards for the selection process:

1.  All applicants must submit two events for review with a third event submission to be used by the Selection Committee in case of ties or other potential reviews.

2.  To apply to be a member of the Elite Team, at least one result must score 11.9 points.  See the points chart below.

3.  Athletes may apply with a waiver if they do not have two events, or the proper points as needed.  A detailed reasoning for the waiver will be expected.

4.  Any race 6 miles or under may be eligible for consideration for Short Course consideration.

5.  Any event 6 miles or over may be eligible for consideration for Standard Course consideration.

6. The Selection Committee will discuss relevant information provided to break ties between applicants.

7. Waivers for a lack of recent race results will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. 

8. The applicant must be willing and able to travel to international events if selected for the 2025 USAOCR National Team

9. Applicants will be contacted to discuss their affiliations if indicated that they may prevent them from joining the 2025 USAOCR National Team. If the applicant is prohibited from joining based on their affiliations, the applicant will not be selected for the 2025 USAOCR National Team

10. Applicants must be willing (if requested) to take an anti-doping test by WADA and/or USADA to be selected for the 2025 USAOCR National Team.

11. Applicants must be willing (if requested) to complete SafeSport training to be selected for the 2025 USAOCR National Team.

12. Applicants must be willing (if requested) to complete a background check and/or any required medical documentation to be selected for the 2025 USAOCR National Team.

13. Funding for the 2025 USAOCR National Team has not been determined. USAOCR may not be able to provide financial assistance to events in 2025.

  • Adventurey/Spartan OCR World Championships – 3k length
  • National Federation or Continental Championships not hosted by USAOCR – 6 mile/10k lengths or less
  • Spartan World Championship Events (Sprint or Super lengths)
  • Spartan Trifecta World Championships (Sprint or Super lengths)
  • Spartan US National Series events (Sprint or Super lengths)
  • Savage Race PRO Series events
  • Abominable Snow Race (Elite/AG Category)

  • Conquer the Gauntlet (Elite Wave)
  • Frontline OCR (Special Forces Category)

      2025 USAOCR National Team - Age Group Selection Categories (Based upon ages permitted per event)

      • Youth: 10-11, 12-13, 14-15
      • Junior: 16-17, 18-19
      • Senior: 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39
      • Masters: 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59
      • Veteran: 60-64, 65-69, etc.

      3k Short Course - The minimum age to compete is 10 years-old.

      15k Standard Course - The minimum age to compete is 16 years-old.


      Selection Timeline

      • 3k, 15k, and 100m Application Released – January 13, 2025
      • Para Application Release Date – February 8, 2025
      • Application Submission Due Date –  EXTENDED to 11:59 pm (PST) on February 21, 2025
      • Announcement of the 2025 USAOCR National Team – To begin on or about March 1, 2025. (Team members may be notified earlier)


      2025 USAOCR National Team Criteria – 100m Course

      The criteria for applying for the 100m 2025 USA OCR National Teams have been formalized by the USAOCR Athlete Committee and approved by the USAOCR Board of Directors.

      The selection process will be based upon a points system with the winners at the 100m FISO OCR World Championships, the 100m Spartan 100m World Championships (Croatia) and the Dubai World Obstacle Championships (UAE) gaining an automatic entry as a member of the 100m USA OCR National Team. 

      The 100m classifications are as follows (an athlete’s age is determined by their age on December 31st in the year of competition):

      • Youth (Ages 10 to 15)
      • Junior (Ages 16 to 19)
      • Senior (Ages 20 to 39)
      • Masters (Ages 40-59)
      • Veteran (Ages 60+)
      • Para (Athletes that qualify as Adaptive Athletes)
      • Elite (Ages 10+)

      • UNAA World Championships (Anaheim)


      2025 USAOCR National Team Criteria – Para-Adaptive

      Para is defined as athletes that qualify as an Adaptive Athlete.

      Para Athletes will be selected based upon the following classifications:

      • PO2-1, PO2-2, PO3, PO4, & PO5.

      Final number of athletes selected will be based upon the final number of athletes allowed by World Obstacle for entry in the 2025 OCR World Championships.


      ***There is a one-time $20 membership fee to join the 2025 USAOCR National Team***
