Ready to lead the next generation of OCR athletes?

USAOCR is hosting its 2nd Hybrid Level 1 Coach Certification Course during the Spartan Boston Fenway Stadion Weekend event

The USAOCR Hybrid Level 1 Coach Certification Course equips aspiring and current coaches with the knowledge, skills, and tools to train athletes for both 100m and Cross-Country Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) events. This hybrid format combines in-person hands-on instruction with an online learning component, making it ideal for those looking to coach in competitive OCR settings.

In-Person Topics and Schedule

The in-person training provides movement-based learning with real-world coaching and cueing scenarios. This training will take place from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM with the following schedule:

  • 8:00 AM: Instructor and Course Introductions
  • 8:30 AM: Module 5 - Aerobic Endurance
  • 9:30 AM: Module 4 - Strength and Conditioning for OCR
  • 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM: Lunch
  • 12:30 PM: Module 6 - Obstacle Technique
  • 2:00 PM: Module 7 - Injury Prevention
  • 3:00 PM: Test and Wrap Up
  • 4:00 PM: Optional Obstacle Fitness Class open to all Phoenix members

After completing the in-person training, candidates receive access to the online course platform to complete the certification process. Submissions are reviewed by USAOCR staff for accuracy and completion. Upon approval, you will be awarded the official USAOCR Level 1 Coach Certification.

FAQs

1. Will I need to complete both the in-person and online programs to be certified? 

A. An individual can register for either the in-person or online program. Both types of courses will certify an individual for Level 1 Coaching. 

2. What is the difference between the in-person and online certification courses?

A. The online certification works in conjunction with the in-person course. The in-person led course provides hands-on experience and will go over most of the case studies and lecture material together in a group setting. However, the online certification is a self-guided certification is accessible to everyone nationwide.
